SHRM-KC Welcomes Hunter Lott!
Extreme HR Strategies for 2010 and Beyond (Luncheon)
To describe this economy as a "downturn" doesn't come close. The new term is "The Great Recession." For most companies this is a reset! Successful 2010 strategy will place HR as a resource to helping managers reach their goals and objectives. All four generations at work want to be part of something special. Some employees want to lead. Most want to follow. The reason "Dilbert" and "The Office" are so popular may not be because they are so over-the-top, but that they are so close to home! This session will focus on what HR needs to do NOW to establish their company as an employer of choice.
Takeaways include:
- Practical strategies to manage the hot commodity of this decade...Time!
- Turnover...History tells us turnover of top talent increases dramatically coming out of a recession. What to do to attract and keep good people.
- Compensation Plans...Let's not make this complicated. Are your best people paid the best? If not, why not?
- HR Metrics...One decision-making formula that every CEO should be using.
- Leadership...Who will employees choose to follow and why.
The Handbook Project (Post-Luncheon Seminar)
Is your employee handbook a legal ticking time bomb? If you still have probationary periods, exit interviews, use-it-or-lose-it sick leave/vacation or think that that "thongs" are something you wear on your feet, you are out of touch and may be adding to your legal exposure. Many handbooks just don't make sense and are of little help to management. This session will focus on writing and implementing practical policies to support managers, at all levels, and mitigate your legal exposure.
Takeaways include:
- Yes you can implement policy on gossip, "attitude", off-the-job misconduct and privacy.
- 3 policies that should be no where near your handbook.
- A "behavior" policy that should be in every employee handbook.
- A handbook audit to assess your legal risk.
- Why "We don't talk about salaries at this place of work" should be out of your handbook TODAY!
- Dozens of sample polices that you can take back and use NOW.
